Toronto decides not to name stadium after Rob Ford


TORONTO — Toronto metropolis council has voted towards naming a stadium after former Mayor Rob Ford.

Ford’s 4-yr tenure as mayor of Canada’s largest metropolis was marred by revelations about his consuming issues and crack cocaine use. As he sought a second time period in 2014, a most cancers analysis pressured him to do what months of scandals couldn’t — drop his bid for re-election. He died lower than two years later on the age of forty six.

Council voted 24-eleven Thursday towards renaming a 2,200-seat stadium at Toronto’s Centennial Park after Ford.

Present Mayor John Tory really helpful the stadium be named after his predecessor.

In a letter to council, Tory stated Ford was recognized for his “distinctive strategy to public service” and that his group involvement went properly past politics.
