SACRAMENTO — Lawrence Argent, the sculptor of Sacramento Worldwide Airport’s big purple rabbit, has died on the age of 60.
Argent’s sudden demise following a surgical process continues to be being investigated, in accordance with 9News.
“Leap,” a fifty six foot lengthy, 19 foot tall rabbit within the midst of leaping right into a suitcase, was accomplished in September 2011 and suspended over terminal B.
When interviewed by FOX40 in 2014, Argent defined the idea behind the sculpture.
“To be temporary, it’s about disrupting that kind of move that we’ve, disrupting that power that we’ve once we go to an airport, as a result of there’s a lot confusion, a lot chaos,” Argent stated. “How does one change that? So, I needed to interject one thing with the thought of eradicating a second of displacement.”
In 2012, the American for the Arts awarded Argent with the Public Artwork Community Award for “Leap.”
