Prosecutor says Chelsea bombing was ‘act of war’ in dramatic closing argument


In a dramatic two-and-a-half-hour closing argument, a federal prosecutor advised jurors of accused “Chelsea bomber” Ahmad Rahimi, “He constructed these bombs for months with steerage from terror organizations…it’s nothing in need of a miracle that nobody died on this assault.”

“Who did this stuff? This man did this stuff, the defendant Ahmad Khan Rahimi carried out these bombings… with evil in his coronary heart,” assistant US lawyer Emil Bove stated standing mere inches from Rahimi.

“He needed to maximise the dying, devastation and destruction,” Bove later added.

At one level through the remarks Bove even forcefully positioned a strain cooker and ball bearings earlier than jurors to reveal the intent and destruction Rahimi hoped to trigger.

“The defendant was pleased with his bombs, pleased with his plan. It was an act of warfare,” Bove stated.
