PBS pulls Tavis Smiley’s show amid misconduct allegations

PBS says it has indefinitely suspended distribution of Tavis Smiley’s speak present after an unbiased investigation uncovered “a number of, credible allegations” of misconduct by its host.

PBS stated in a press release Wednesday it had engaged an outdoor regulation agency to research “troubling allegations” towards the host. It stated it interviewed witnesses and Smiley and uncovered costs of conduct “that’s inconsistent with the values and requirements of PBS.”

A consultant for PBS declined to specify the character of the allegations towards Smiley.

In a press release Wednesday on Fb, Smiley stated he has by no means “groped, coerced or inappropriately uncovered myself to any office colleague” in a 30-yr broadcast profession. He stated PBS declined to determine his accusers in an interview with him.

His nightly program has aired on PBS since 2004.
