A New Orleans officer was shot and killed after a gunman fired on a gaggle of police.

The town’s Mayor Mitch Landrieu confirmed the demise on Twitter early Friday morning, saying that the unidentified officer was killed in a single day.

“These are the worst type of days for the town,” he advised reporters throughout a press convention. “We need to hold the household in our ideas and prayers. There have been loads of officers who knew this officer very properly. All the division is in trauma.”
