Man arrested in shooting death of Halifax County toddler


HALIFAX COUNTY (WTVD) —

A person has been arrested in reference to the capturing dying of a Weldon toddler.

On Thursday morning, 22-yr-previous Malcolm Artis was arrested after 1-yr-previous Jaxon Clay was shot to dying in a drive-by capturing on Dec. 7.

Authorities stated Artis fled to Georgia after the incident the place he was arrested; he will probably be extradited again to Halifax County.

He’s charged with a number of felonies together with first-diploma homicide and tried homicide.

Jaxon was murdered round eight:15 p.m. within the seven hundred block of Elm Road in Weldon.

Police stated Jaxson was inside the house when somebody drove by and fired photographs on the home.

The boy, who authorities stated would have celebrated his second birthday two days earlier than Christmas, was shot within the head and died on the hospital round midnight.
