Lost deer trying to break into Bronx senior citizen home put down



A misplaced deer caught making an attempt to bust right into a Bronx senior citizen residence Tuesday morning needed to be euthanized hours later, officers stated.

The deer was noticed in search of an open door on the Citadel Rehabilitation and Nursing middle at Kingsbridge on Cannon Place close to Giles Place in Kingsbridge about eight:forty five a.m., authorities stated.

An NYPD Emergency Providers Unit staff tranquilized the deer and handed it over to the town’s Animal Care Middle of NYC, cops stated.

“Nature meets NYC,” Deputy Inspector Terence O’Toole, the commanding officer of the fiftieth Precinct, stated in a tweet Tuesday. “A deer tried to enter 3400 Cannon Place The deer has been contained and might be handled and evaluated.”

A spokeswoman for Animal Care Facilities of NYC stated the deer arrived with critical trauma.

“As is protocol with injured deer, humane euthanasia was carried out,” the spokeswoman stated.

Sources with information of the case stated the deer suffered from seize myopathy — muscle injury brought on by the stress of being corralled.
