DALLAS – A former police officer in a Dallas suburb has been indicted within the capturing of a black man who was mistaken for a burglar whereas making an attempt to unlock his personal truck.
Dallas County District Lawyer Religion Johnson introduced that a grand jury on Wednesday indicted former Mesquite police officer Derick Wiley on a cost of aggravated assault with a lethal weapon by a public servant within the Nov. eight capturing of Lyndo Jones, who survived.
Wiley was fired late final month for violating a police division coverage, although officers did not specify what coverage.
Authorities have stated Jones was shot twice after officers responded to a report of somebody breaking right into a car, setting off its alarm. Officers stated the capturing occurred as Jones scuffled with Wiley, who can also be black, and different officers.
