Sgt. Hugh Barry defined throughout his bench trial for homicide and manslaughter that he was pressured to make an unattainable selection between his personal life or sixty six-yr-previous Deborah Danner’s on the finish of a tense standoff inside her Citadel Hill house.
The sergeant had already persuaded the lady to drop a pair of scissors after he and three different officers responded to a name for an emotionally disturbed individual on Oct. 18, 2016, he stated.
Danner was ranting and cursing at police after dropping the shears after which ran again into her bed room the place the bat was.

“(I’m considering) what the hell simply occurred?” he stated on direct examination. “I screamed (for) EMS.”
“Did you ever intend to kill Ms. Danner?” Quinn requested.
“Completely not,” Barry responded. “I simply needed her to cease swinging that bat.”
