Bus carrying special needs students hit by fallen tree in Queens


Forceful winds in Queens knocked over an enormous tree Monday morning and despatched it crashing down on prime of a faculty bus that was carrying eight particular wants college students, police stated.

The bus was headed down Woodhaven Blvd. close to 67th Ave. in Rego Park about eight a.m. when the tree struck the roof of the yellow bus, collapsing the body, damaging the door and shattering a part of the windshield. All that remained of the 18-foot tree was its stump.

Miraculously, not one of the youngsters — who have been all underneath the age of 5 — have been significantly harm. All have been taken to Elmhurst Hospital for analysis as a precaution, in line with police.
